“A form of consciousness that enables individuals to be aware of their personal past and future and to mentally travel in it”. (E.Tulvig).

This series attempts to depict personal autobiographical memory and centers on how retrieving and reconstructing personal events from the past relate to our capacity to imagine the future. The project addresses the nature of human mind as related to the notion of time. Drawing from the research works of cognitive neuroscientist Endel Tulving, the term “chronesthesia” is as much the basis of recollection as of forward thinking. As he says, “it is a trick that nature invented to circumvent its own most fundamental law of unidirectionality of time”. Through a mental time travel, the photographer embarks on a journey of self-discovery and oscillates between a subjective present and a hypothetical past and future.
